A Few Stories Worth Your Attention

There are a few great stories in the BBC news today. There is a story about a rat snake befriending a hamster, proving that innate nature is not an absolute. Another intersting story is about an Australian prisoner who found a new purpose to diet. Also, if you go to the Outlook page, you can scroll down to “Wednesday” to hear the story of Paul Templer, who relates his trip down into a hippo’s throat-TWICE! Unbelievable.

Some time back, I heard a news story about a guy who got a python egg and hatched it. He loved it and took care of it for years. It got bigger and bigger. One day it occurred to the python that it was bigger than the man, so it ate him. The police actually found the man’s dead body inside the snake. The moral of this story is: Never trust a snake. They make lousy friends.

Yup, I'm sure that hamster won't live a full life span in that cage. I don't think I'll ever own an animal that could come to the realization that it can be free if it would just kill me.
This kind of reminds me of the guy who made a documentary of his life with grizzly bears. The film was released recently. I haven't seen it yet, but I will. He lived for (I think) 2 years in peace with grizzlies. You can guess how the story ends.
The real moral is that we ARE different from the rest of the animal kingdom.
